Mardy, Vicki and Annie -- Hugging and Smiling and Steaming!!!
Mardy, Vicki and Annie -- Hugging and Smiling and Steaming!!!
On a cold winter night -- actually Groundhog's Eve -- 42 of us gathered at Pack's Tavern in AVL. As the group continued to grow, we all mingled around and enjoyed each other's company. LOTS of HUGGERS and SMILES... I know that I sure had a good time seeing old friends. Many others sent back responses to me about how they wished they could be part of the fun. We'll have more mini-reunion-events in 2013 and hope that our "family" of friends continues to expand. Thanks to Amy Pickett Dodson for stepping up that night as our impromptu official photographer. She captured lots of precious moments which she has posted on this site as well as Facebook.

Please encourage others to post their own comments here. AND make sure others get registered (with correct email address) so that more people can be included in the communication loop.

Like to say hello to everyone.  Wow forty years, can you believe it.  I sure hated seeing the names of old friends in the Memorials section.  I had some great times with lots of those folks.

Our band for Saturday night is very versatile.  What 3 songs or performers do you want to recommend to their playlist??

Dear Band,

I would love to hear "Spooky", "Foxy Lady" (Hendrix), and "La-la-la-la-la Means I Love You."  The Four Tops, The Left Bank, and The Troggs - Oh, and my first date in a (borrowed) car  - "Crystal Blue Persuasion."

I love you (x 3), yes I do, but the words won't come - and I don't know what to sayayay (The Zombies) - would be great, too.

Thank you so very much,

JKS

Looking forward to some cool times!!  It's day 14 of 100+ out here and my NC dogwood tree is suffering...  Does anybody remember the band, "The Lurz"?  (David, Wayne, et al)  And Steve Sandman at the Kustom Organ with his band?  The late 60's was a wonderful time and it will be great to be back, letting what is left of our hair down.

Racking my brain to remember the songs. I'd like to hear, I love you more today than yesterday. If you like, you can dedicate it to Eddie, my hubby for 37 years.

Does anyone know how to reach Jim Lyda ('72) in Florida, or Tim McMurray ('70) in California, or whatever happened to  Mark Dillard ('68 or '69)?  What about Susan Scarborough ('72), Debbie Gunter ('72) or David Cheadle ('70)?

Our connections began long before reached high school. I was lucky to live all around Asheville while growing up... Malvern Hills, Kenilworth and Beaver Lake areas. Thanks to one of my very first friends, Ann Foster Devlin, for sharing this photo with me. Our very first day of school... ready to carpool to Vance Elementary! Definitely children of the fifties! I'm even wearing my poodle skirt! Looks like photo needs to be posted at photo section though.
